Stella Adler Theatre to Present THE HUMAN SPIRIT, Begin. 9/26
Apartheid in South Africa has now been gone more than twenty years but the heroes of their struggle to achieve a 'Rainbow' coalition midst a Black majority-run democracy are still being revealed. The Human Spirit, a play written by author Carole Eglash-Kosoff, will be playing at The Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood in late September. The Human Spirit tells the stories of real-life individuals, Black and White, Christian and Jewish, who worked tirelessly in The Shadows to improve conditions for the country's most disadvantaged.
Nelson Mandela was still in prison; clean water and sanitation barely existed; AIDS was beginning to orphan an entire generation. Meanwhile, a white, Jewish, middle class woman joins Tutu, Millie, Philip, Sipho and others, respectfully called 'The Mamas', to help those most in need, often being beaten and arrested by white security police. Now, as Nelson Mandela's failing health grips the world, the travails and accomplishments of these people are, once again, relevant. The stories of the brave men and women, who spent their lives making South Africa a better place for those who were the country's most disadvantaged, are revealed throughout the production of The Human Spirit.
