Of Government by Alex Borinsky
Directed by Kate Motzenbacker

Plunge by Tom Jacobson Directed by Matthew McCray
May 26 - June 17

ABOUT THE SHOW: Dark secrets bubble to the surface as two strangers - one a priest, the other a noted art historian - share a surreal confession at LA's "exclusive" Bimini Baths. Years before, a boy drowned under mysterious circumstances. But whose crime was it, really?

Set in 1916, Plunge is the first installment of Tom Jacobson's world-premiere trilogy, The Ballad of Bimini Baths, which uses real events at the now-forgotten spa to examine the collision of cultures in 20th Century Los Angeles. All three parts of the trilogy will be presented in Summer 2018 as a collaboration between Son of Semele Ensemble (Part 1: Plunge), Playwrights Arena (Part 2: Tar) and Rogue Machine (Part 3: Mexican Day). | Tickets: Pay-what-you-can through 6/3, then $25. Same-day $50 Marathon Ticket good for performances of all three plays June 9, 10, 16 & 17.

The Woman Who Went to Space as a Man by Maureen Huskey

ABOUT THE SHOW: Part fact, part fever dream, this captivating new work opens with Alice B. Sheldon - better known to sci-fi aficionados as author James Tiptree, Jr. - contemplating suicide. Dodging in and out of reality, the play investigates gender, longing and creativity as self-exploration through one of the Science Fiction world's greatest literary tricksters. | Tickets: Pay-what-you-can through 11/4, then $25

SON OF SEMELE ENSEMBLE MISSION: We believe the impact of a theatrical experience should resonate beyond the theater door. As an ensemble of artists, we integrate complex design and performance, producing theatre that embraces the friction between emotion and intellect. Through a process of discovery, collaboration and creative risk-taking, we illuminate and amplify universal questions. To that end, we make an earnest commitment to the artistic sustainability of the greater community. Copyright © 2018 Son of Semele Ensemble, All rights reserved.
