SHINING CITY Returns for Four Weeks Only at Hudson Guild Theatre in Hollywood ImageHollywood Fringe Festival hit Shining City by Conor McPherson will return for four weeks only to the Hudson Guild Theatre in Hollywood, it was announced today by Hicks Street Productions. Under the direction of Brian Foyster and Eddie Kehler, the cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Brian Foyster, Charlotte Gulezian, Eddie Kehler, Sean Matic, and Tyler Williams. Set design is by Joel Daavid with lighting and sound design by Matthew Richter.

Shining City is set in Dublin, where a guilt-ridden man reaches out to a therapist after the death of his wife in a car crash. Wrestling with his own demons, the therapist can only do so much to help. Routine visits between the two men quickly become a gripping struggle to survive, changing both of them for the rest of their lives. Said The New York Times, "Conor McPherson's play is haunting, inspired, and absolutely glorious." When Shining City opened in London in 2006, The Daily Telegraph described him as "the finest dramatist of his generation." Running time is 90 minutes.

Conor McPherson's plays include The Weir, Port Authority, Dublin Carol, The Seafarer, The Veil, The Night Alive, and most recently, Girl from the North Country. They have been performed internationally, notably in the West End and on Broadway. He wrote the screenplays for I Went Down and The Eclipse (which he also directed).

There will be one preview performance of Shining City on Friday, August 3 at 8pm. Opening is set for Saturday, August 4, at 8pm. Tickets for the preview are $15 and admission for regular performances is $20. Seats may be purchased online at www.plays411.com/shiningcity or by phone at (323) 960-7780. The Hudson Guild Theatre is located at 6539 Santa Monica Boulevard (on Theatre Row) in Hollywood, 90038. Valet parking is available.
