Rubicon Theatre Presents A TUNA CHRISTMAS, Now thru 12/21
Rubicon Theatre of Ventura ushers in the holidays with A Tuna Christmas. Directed by Brian McDonald, this non-stop two-man comedy introduces dozens of hilarious occupants of one small Texan town during the holidays. Opening December 6, performances take place Wednesdays through Sundays until December 21. Low-priced previews are available tonight, December 3 - 5. For tickets, call 805.667.2900 or go to rubicontheatre.org.
The perfect sidesplitting comedy for the holiday season, A Tuna Christmas takes audiences to the "third-smallest" town in Texas during the most hectic time of year. Yuletide activities are in full swing as radio personalities from the local station report on hard-hitting issues such as Joe Bob Lipsey's struggling production of A Christmas Carol and the annual lawn display contest with emphasis on the mysterious "Christmas Phantom" notorious for vandalizing the displays.
This two-man show introduces audiences to a myriad of colorful characters from the tiny town of Tuna through dizzying costume and scene changes. As described by the New York Post, A Tuna Christmas is, "So funny it could make a raccoon laugh affectionately at Davy Crockett... It's far too good for just Christmas."
Low-priced previews of A Tuna Christmas begin Wednesday, December 3 at 7 p.m., continuing Thursday, December 4 at 8 p.m. and Friday, December 5 at 8 p.m. Press Opening is on Saturday, December 6 at 8 p.m. and runs through Sunday, December 21. Regular performances are Wednesdays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. Facilitated talkbacks with the actors are scheduled after Wednesday 7 p.m. performances on December 10 and December 17.
Ticket prices range from $28 to $57. Tickets for students are $23, and student rush tickets are available for $15. The Press Opening Night is on December 6 at 8 p.m.
Tickets for A Tuna Christmas may be purchased in person through the Rubicon Theatre Company Box Office at the corner of Main and Laurel in Ventura (Laurel entrance and downstairs). To charge by phone, call 805.667.2900 or visit Rubicon online at rubicontheatre.org. Twenty-four-hour-a-day ticketing is available online thanks to a grant from the Irvine Foundation's Arts Regional Initiative.
