Rubicon Theatre Launches 'Our Town/Your Theatre' Initiative

By:
Rubicon Theatre of Ventura opens the company's 15th Anniversary Season, entitled "Our Town/Your Theatre," on October 20, 2012 with La Razón Blindada (The Armored Reason), written and directed by Arístides Vargas. La Razón Blindada comes to Rubicon from 24th Street Theatre in Los Angeles and is produced in association with Mexico's Instituto de Cultura de Baja California and La Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa. A powerful and poetic story about two political prisoners who transcend their oppressive environs through imaginative improvisation, the show has received international acclaim. La Razón was dubbed the L.A. Weekly 2011 "Production of the Year" and was a "Critic's Choice" in the L.A. Times and "Critic's Pick" in BackStage West.

La Razón Blindada marks a milestone for Rubicon and is the first play at the theatre to be performed entirely in Spanish (with English supertitles). The production begins previews on October 17, with the official opening on Saturday, October 20. Performances continue Wednesdays through Sundays through November 11, 2012 at Rubicon Theatre Company, 1006 E. Main Street in Ventura's Downtown Cultural District. For tickets, call (805) 667-2900 or go to www.rubicontheatre.org.
