Pot Mom Starring Roseanne's Laurie Metcalf Begins Performances February 17th

The Third Stage Theatre company presents Laurie Metcalf staring in POT MOM, written and directed by Justin Tanner. POT MOM will open on Friday, February 17 and continue for seven weeks through Saturday, April 1 at the Third Stage Theatre, 2811 Magnolia Blvd. in Burbank.  The Third Stage Company's Managing Director is James Henriksen. 

Laurie Metcalf ("Roseanne," Pot Mom) makes her Third Stage Company debut in POT MOM.   She returns to her much acclaimed role of best friend Michelle to Ellen Ratner (who also returns) as Patty, the suburban mother growing pot to make ends meet, in Justin Tanner's 1994 award-winning comedy. POT MOM deals with a drug dealing suburban mom trying to keep her household together. The cast is rounded out by Jon Palmer (reprising his role from the original production) as Patty's long-suffering boyfriend Richard.  Third Stage Company regulars Todd Lowe and Victoria Prescott play two of Patty's dope-smoking kids

Justin Tanner (co-writer/director) has written a bunch of plays. Zombie Attack! (co-written with Andy Daley) ran in Hollywood for 10 years. His other cult hit from the Cast Theatre, Pot Mom, received LA Weekly, LA Drama Critics Circle, and Pen West Writing Awards. Tanner's other works there include Bitter Women, Coyote Women, Heartbreak Help, Teen Girl, Party Mix, and Intervention.   The Evidence Room was home to productions of Hot Property, and The Strip.  Other Third Stage projects have been Big Bear, Happytime X-mas, Wife Swappers and Oklahomo!.

Performances for POT MOM will be Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm through Saturday April 1 at the Third Stage Theatre, 2811 W. Magnolia Blvd. in Burbank.  Ticket prices will be $20.00 ($5.00 discount for students, seniors and 4-A union members).  Tickets are available by calling 818/842-4755.   

The Third Stage Company is located at 2811 Magnolia Blvd. in the Magnolia Park district of Burbank, THIRD STAGE was founded in 1984.  This wonderfully intimate 50-seat theater has been home to several award-winning shows, among others:  A Few Good Men, Big Bear, Happytime Xmas, Geniuses, Road to Nirvana, Glengarry Glen Ross, Dealer's Choice, and Additional Particulars, the latter four garnering Critic's Choice honors in the Los Angeles Times and LA Weekly.  Additional Particulars was also honored by the LA Drama Critics Circle with three awards.   Since 1999, resident producer and current Artistic Director, James Henriksen, and Justin Tanner have collaborated on nine productions.
