Photo Flash: JoAnne Worley Opens KEEP LAUGHIN At Cabaret At The Castle

She began with what she referred to as her greatest accomplishment ... "Getting out of Lowell, Indiana," and continued for an hour and twenty minutes of songs, anecdotes, jokes (one or two about chickens) and, of course, a pearl twirl, about an amazing career that seemed to fly by much too quickly, leaving the patrons begging for more. Joanne Worley put the laugh in Laugh-In. Audiences tuned in weekly to watch her zany antics on the late '60s TV series "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In." She has appeared on numerous televisions shows since then and through the years has done voices in a number of films, including the Academy Award Winning Beauty and The Beast. Most recently she was seen in "Wicked" in Los Angeles and in "Drousy Chaperone" on Broadway. Beyond her many years of accomplishment in television, movies, and the Broadway stage, she has tackled and conquered nightclubs, game shows, talk shows, cartoons, commercials, and even opera. A one-of-a-kind commodity and certainly no shrinking violet when it comes to entertaining, Miss Worley belongs on center stage.

She is most proud to currently be serving as president of Actors and Others for Animals, which in be holding an annual benefit tributing her alma mater "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In," on Nov 14th in Los Angeles (www.actorsandothers.com). In addition, portions of the ticket sales from "Keep Laughing!" benefited the charity. A particularly touching moment during the program was dedicated in poem for and by her dear friend Henry Gibson, entitled "The Eyelash," originally written by Gibson for one of JoAnne's dearest friends, Miss Carol Channing.

The Magic Castle is the world's most famous private club for magicians and magic enthusiasts and home to The Academy of Magical Arts, Inc. The Magic Castle is the showplace for some of the greatest magicians from around the globe and houses one of the largest original collections of Houdini's great tools of the trade including his personal handcuffs, straight jacket, metamorphosis trunk and famous milk can escape. Houdini himself used these props to mystify thousands. Great pride is also taken in showcasing the magnificent building that houses the Magic Castle. Construction was completed in 1909 and this storied mansion has watched Hollywood grow and change for 100 years while never losing its original charm.
