The Winter's Tale marks the halfway point of the Porters' exploration of Shakespeare's canon, it being their 19th production out of the Bard's accepted 38. Fully embracing the fairy tale quality of Shakespeare's story of jealousy and the redemptive power of love (and an infamous bear), this production will be staged quite literally between the pages of a book as we set out to enchant even the most stone-hearted of theatergoers. "a wild dedication of yourselvesTo undiscovered waters, undreamed shores." - The Winter's Tale, William Shakespeare

The Winter's Tale will star Porters' Associate Artistic Director Thomas Bigley as Leontes, last seen as Pistol in our Henry V, and as the title role of our Timon of Athens (the first LA production of the piece in 15 years); The Winter's Tale will mark Resident Artist Jesse James Thomas' first outing as a director for The Porters, having previously Assistant Directed The Merry Wives of Windsor in 2012. This production will also feature a bear. The Winter's Tale opens on Saturday, October 18th at 8pm at The Actors Forum Theatre, 10655 Magnolia Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91601. The production plays Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm, and Sundays at 7pm, for three weeks through November 2nd, and will continue Thursday through Saturday at 8pm for two more weeks, closing the five-week run on Saturday, November 15th, 2014. The production will run approximately two hours with one intermission.
