To celebrate the anniversary of Thornton Wilder's OUR TOWN, PASSCAL will produce a limited engagement of the classic play with Americana music and original scoring composed by Jonathan Kupper, at The First Congregational Church in Buena Park, California for the first two weekends of August. It is the ONLY production slated for the Southern California area for the Anniversary! The production is being produced by PASSCAL (Performing Arts Society of Southern California) in Association with All Seasons Theatre Company, Inc. Patrick Riviere, who most recently directed the acclaimed production of THE LAST DAYS OF JUDAS ISCARIOT at The Victory Theatre in Burbank, will helm the production. Casting is set to be complete in early June.

A limited run of six performances will be presenTed August 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th and 11th at the church - 6633 Beach Boulevard, Buena Park, CA. Tickets will be available through Brown Paper Tickets or can be purchased at the door (cash only). http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/392243

"In the 75 years since Thornton Wilder's OUR TOWN was first produced, it would not be unreasonable to posit that the world has changed more than in the 750 years prior," Kupper noted, "yet the themes of this quintessential American play-despite its narrow focus on the residents of "Grover's Corners" New Hampshire around the turn of the century-remain as universal and timeless as ever. With this special 75th anniversary production, we hope our audience members will look up from their text messages and Twitter feeds for just a moment and be reminded of the life "too wonderful for anybody to realize" that is too often passing them by. With Wilder's beautifully drawn characters and the delightful addition of traditional American music, we are confident that a 2013 audience can hear the message just as clearly as that first audience did on January 22nd, 1938."

The Performing Arts Society of Southern California (PASSCAL) is an artist-founded, artist-run organization that seeks to promote the performing arts (theater, opera, and concerts) and increase accessibility thereof by providing opportunities for SoCal audiences to enjoy such events at an affordable rate.
