New Musical SNEAKY OLE TIME Opens 8/1 at Ruskin Group Theatre

By:

Two-time Grammy Award winner and Songwriter of the Year (5 years in a row - BMI) Paul Overstreet (Hall of Fame - NSAI) has chosen the Ruskin Group Theatre in Los Angeles to launch his new musical SNEAKY OLE TIME, opening on Saturday, August 1, 2015. Overstreet has charted 16 singles on Billboard, including two #1 hits. Noted vocalists Tanya Tucker, Kenny Chesney, Alison Krauss, The Judds, and Randy Travis have all covered Overstreet's songs.

"A songwriter who can make you roar with laughter one minute and move you to tears in the next has a truly unique talent. My goal in writing the book is simple to state but hard to achieve: to match the heart, the wit, and the soul of Paul's songs." - Steve Mazur; Book Author

Day drinking strangers in a Tennessee honky-tonk discover that they have a lot more in common than they ever could have imagined. A cosmic and comic exploration of love and/or marriage is built around twenty-two of Hall of Famer Paul Overstreet's greatest songs, including Forever and Ever, Amen, and When You Say Nothing at All. This World Premiere musical goes straight to the heart of what it means to fall in (and out) of love, with the play's characters designed to give voice to disparate perspectives, from I'd Choose You Again to (You Are the Reason We're) Not Going to Make It. No matter what brings them all together to hash it out on a Wednesday afternoon, nobody leaves unchanged.

Paul Overstreet (Music/Lyrics) has written and co-written 27 top ten songs, his first being George Jones', Same Ole Me. Randy Travis, Tanya Tucker, Alison Kraus, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, andGlen Campbell are just a few of the artists who have recorded Paul's songs. When You Say Nothing at All was released in the major motion picture, Notting Hill, starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. His first solo project began when RCA released Sowin' Love. The five singles released from that album were all top ten hits. Overstreet, along with other co-writers, earned two Grammy Awards and BMI honored him as Songwriter of the Year for five consecutive years, a mark on the Music Row wall that has not been reached before or since. He has won the CMA and ACM Song of the Year and received a Dove Award for Country Recorded Album of the Year, and two more Dove Awards for Country Recorded Song of the Year. Paul was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and less than a week after Elvis Presley joined the dozen artists honored with markers on the Mississippi Country Music Trail, Paul Overstreet became Jackson County's first marker recipient.

SEAKY OLE TIME opens August 1st and runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm through September 19, 2015. Ruskin Group Theatre is located at 3000 Airport Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90405.
