Megan Mullally, Nick Offerman and More Set for Ojai Playwrights Conference Gala, 4/28

The Ojai Playwrights Conference (OPC) launches its 15^TH season with its annual Benefit Gala themed "Body and Soul: An OPC Cabaret" – A Musical and Theatrical Celebration of the Mystery, Magnificence and Madness of Living.

Scheduled for Saturday, April 28, 2012 in Ojai, the Benefit begins at 5:30 pm at Matilija Auditorium with a special show created especially for this evening by OPC Artistic Director/Producer Robert Egan. The all-star cast includes Patrick J. Adams, Marcia Gay Harden, Megan Mullally, Nick Offerman, Zachary Quinto, Steven Weber, Noah Wyle, and others to be announced. Following the show, the festivities continue at St. Thomas Aquinas Hall with music, martinis, a gourmet dinner prepared by celebrity chef Michael Hollingsworth, a live auction and the 2012 OPC Awards, honoring award-winning playwright Bill Cain and award-winning actress and OPC Board Member Dana Delany.

Bill Cain has developed several plays at the Ojai Playwrights Conference, including How To Write a New Book for the Bible, Equivocation (Geffen Playhouse, Manhattan Theater Club, and Oregon Shakespeare Festival) and 9 Circles (Marin Theatre Company). 9 Circles was developed in 2008 in Ojai, and in April 2011, won the Harold and Mimi Steinberg/American Theatre Critics Association New Play Award. Cain won the same award in 2010 for Equivocation, also developed at OPC.

Dana Delany is now starring in the ABC series Body Of Proof. She is also known for her portrayal of Katherine Mayfair on the hit TV seriesDesperate Housewives, and for her Emmy Award winning role as Colleen McMurphy on the classic TV series China Beach. In feature films such as the successful Tombstone (1993), Dana was charming as Josephine Marcus, then a year later raised eyebrows as Mistress Lisa in Exit to Eden (1994). In Choices of the Heart (1995), Dana played the historic birth control pioneer Margaret Sanger, the strong Sarah McClure in True Women (1997), and a mystical healer in Resurrection (1999).

Ticket options for the Benefit are $90 for the Show only; $225 for the Show, Dinner and Auction; $2,000 for the VIP Package for eight, and $2,500 for the VIP Package for ten. The VIP package includes preferred seating at the show and at the dinner, plus a group photo with the cast. Tickets may be ordered online at www.ojaiplays.org. This event will sell out, so early ticket orders are encouraged.

Proceeds from the Benefit will benefit the Ojai Playwrights Conference, a non-profit organization whose mission is to develop unproduced plays of artistic excellence from diverse writers both emerging and established by promoting creative freedom and bold experimentation through a development process that values writers who focus on the compelling social, political and cultural issues of our time. Each summer, playwrights from around the world converge in Ojai for a two-week, intensive in-residence workshop of their plays that culminates in public readings. The 15^th Annual OPC Summer New Works Festival will take place August 7-12, 2012.
