Maureen Teefy, the stage and screen star is bringing her one woman-show, "A Subject for a Short Story" to Solofest 2016 for one performance only at the Whitefire Theatre on Sunday, January 31st at 7pm.

In the show, written by Maureen Teefy and Thomas Mitchell, Teefy will share personal stories of her life from triumphs, romances, to going back to her days growing up in a large Irish Catholic family in the twin cities with eight sisters and one brother. Teefy will also talk about her long career in film & theatre and share anecdotes of her most memorable film roles including drama student 'Doris Finsecker' from the 1980 hit movie "Fame." Teefy will recreate Doris' famous audition scene by singing, "The Way We Were", accompanied by her Music Director Bill Jenkins on piano. She will also perform a delightful tap dance to Cole Porter's "You've Got That Thing", choreographed by Cathy Chazan.

The title, "A Subject for a Short Story" refers to the role of 'Nina' from "The Seagull" by Anton Chekhov, which Teefy was cast to play when she was 18 years old. Teefy uses Nina's journey, as a parallel to her life up to now.

Teefy recently filmed "Hollywood Girl", a short scripted drama based on the true story of stage and screen actress Peg Entwistle. Teefy's other memorable film roles include "Supergirl" and "Grease 2."
Solofest 2016 is in association with Bryan Rasmussen and the Whitefire Theatre. The Whitefire Theatre is located at 13500 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, CA 91423. Tel: (818) 990-2324. For ticket reservations visit http://shortstory.brownpapertickets.com.
