Plácido Domingo, LA Opera's Eli and Edythe Broad General Director, announced that Marlene Chavez, Deanie Collier Stein and Andrew Xu were elected to the board at a meeting held today.

"This is wonderful news for LA Opera, for these three new board members can only make our board even stronger," said Mr. Domingo. "I look forward to working with them in their leadership roles as we create new paths for the company's future success, and as we continue to expand our reach and influence on international, national and local levels."

"I am thrilled to expand the energy and influence of our board with three new members who are as eager as I am to find new ways for LA Opera to achieve our mission and guide our future," said Marc Stern, chairman of the company's board of directors. "They join us at an especially auspicious moment. Our just-wrapped season-opener, Carmen, was a hit-not just for audiences at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, but also with thousands across the county through our simulcast initiative-and this momentum will fuel us throughout the season ahead."
