Machado & Travis Complete 2nd Cast Of Geffen Playhouse's LOVE, LOSS AND WHAT I WORE

By:

Actresses Justina Machado and Nancy Travis are trying Love, Loss and What I Wore on for size. They join previously announced actresses Lucy DeVito, Conchata Ferrell and Rhea Perlman in the Geffen Playhouse's second cast of Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron's award-winning collection of stories.

Machado, best known for her role on HBO's Six Feet Under, is returning to the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater at the Geffen Playhouse after her 2007 performance in Neil LaBute's Some Girl(s).

Joining Machado is veteran film, TV and stage actress Nancy Travis who recently appeared in the Broadway production of I'm Not Rappaport and is widely recognized for her role in So I Married an Axe Murderer. Travis is also returning to the Geffen Playhouse, having appeared in Rebecca Gilman's Boy Meets Girl in 2003.

The new cast of Love, Loss and What I Wore has two preview performances on June 9, officially opens on June 10, and is set to run through July 3, 2010.

Machado and Travis share their Love, Loss and What I Wore debut with Ferrell, who is currently on Two and a Half Men. Devito, who is best known for her stints Off-Broadway as well as spots on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, has appeared in multiple rounds of the New York production. Four-time Emmy Award winner Perlman, who has also previously performed Love, Loss, recently appeared in the Broadway production of The Tale of the Allergist's Wife and is best known for her role as Carla on Cheers.

Love, Loss and What I Wore, an intimate collection of stories covering some of life's most poignant moments and their corresponding wardrobe, is directed by Jenny Sullivan and is currently playing in the Geffen Playhouse's Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater. The evening of vignettes, which is based on the best-selling book of the same name by Ilene Beckerman as well as personal reminiscences from the Ephrons and their friends, features a rotating cast of five actresses who share tales to which every woman can relate. The first cast at the Geffen Playhouse included Caroline Aaron, Carol Kane, Natasha Lyonne, Tracee Ellis Ross and Rita Wilson.

Love, Loss and What I Wore, which was recently honored with the 2010 Drama Desk Award for Best Unique Theatrical Experience, is simultaneously running off-Broadway where it is produced by Daryl Roth. Originally directed by Karen Carpenter, the show opened in October 2009 and is still playing to sold-out houses. Cast members have included
Samantha Bee, Kristin Chenoweth, Tyne Daly, Janeane Garofalo, Michele Lee, Jane Lynch and Rosie O'Donnell. Staged with a focus on storytelling, the actresses sit side-by-side with script in-hand, deftly guiding the audience through an evening of humor, nostalgia and, of course, fashion.
