Long Beach Playhouse Political Players to Host Radio Show Fundraiser

By:

On June 17 at 5:30 P.M., Historical author Jim Trobaty has written a book about the history of the Port. Now a secret time capsule threatens to tell more than Trobaty or the Port want told. Can Guy Penoir, Public Private Eye, save the day? Find out how the caper unfolds on June 17 at 5:30 in the offices of Keesal, Young and Logan when the 2015 Political Players reveal the real scoop about happenings in this place we call home.

For the fifth year, Gazette Executive Editor, Harry Saltzgaver has written a witty script that serves as a guided tour of our town, its landmarks and its politics. Returning characters include The Cowboys, Guy Penoir, Wayne and his parents and ketchup aficionados Barb and Jim. Debuting this year are the Bike Sisters, and as in years past, there'll be plenty of weird sound effects, witty banter and bad puns.

This year's Political Players are: Gov. George Deukmejian, Al Austin, Victoria Bryan, Gloria Cordero, Doug Haubert, Gigi Fusco Meese, Michelle Molina, John Morris, Stacy Mungo, Doug Otto, Lisa Ramelow, and Rod Wilson. The emcee is Mitchell Nunn and sound effects are oh-so "art-fully" delivered by Art Levine.

In addition to the Radio Show, the acclaimed Keesal, Young and Logan chef serves a bounty of appetizers to satisfy even the pickiest foodie. Hospitality includes a bartender and hosted bar.

The Radio Show is a fundraiser for the Playhouse and a truly unique event. Tickets are $85, a modest price for the chance to hang out with the city's movers and shakers, eat great food and have a drink on the house. And it takes place in a room with a breathtaking view of the harbor. The fun also includes an opportunity raffle for items ranging from restaurants to cemetery tours.

Tickets are limited; call the Playhouse box office at 562-494-1014 X 1 to purchase yours today. If not sold out, tickets will be sold at the event.

All proceeds support the productions and programs of the Long Beach Playhouse including plays of all types, collaborative productions, comedy nights, guest lecturers, regionally recognized youth and adult education programs and the internationally acclaimed New Works Festival.
