LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS & UPRIGHT CABARET are thrilled to announce the performers for their fourth fantastic UPRIGHT CABARET experience at the NEW Cabaret Lounge at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. Yvette Cason, Von Smith and Katy Mixon will be performing their own selections while highlighting the music of Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley and Prince, under the musical direction of Gerald Sternbach in a one-night-only concert - THE MIGHTY MISSISSIPPI on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 8PM.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

Yvette Cason BROADWAY: Play On! , Dreamgirls. Pasadena Playhouse: The Little Foxes, Stormy Weather, Ray Charles: Live, Play On! (Ovation Award), Sisterella (NAACP Theater Award). REGIONAL THEATRE: Smokey Joe's Cafe (La Mirada Theatre), Into the Woods (CLO For the South Bay Cities), Ain't Misbehavin' (CLO For the South Bay Cities), And the World Goes Round (Sacramento Music Circus), St. Louis Woman (Center Theatre- N.Y.), Thunder Knocking on the Door (San Jose Rep.) , Stevie Wants To Play the Blues (Williamstown Theatre Festival). Von Smith was first introduced to the world when his version of "And I Am Telling You (I'm Not Going)" became a sensation on YouTube. Von Smith has garnered a legion of fans and performed on some of the most celebrated stages in the U.S. including ABC's "The View" (by personal invitation of Rosie O'Donnell), and perhaps the biggest stage, "American Idol Season 8" with fellow Upright Cabaret alum Adam Lambert.

The Kansas City native and recent Los Angeles transplant brings his Signature Sound to the Upright Cabaret stage which he describes as "Soul/Pop" encompassing "all facets of soul music in a pop realm." From Nina Simone to George Michael, Prince to Dreamgirls, as well as, new original material, Smith's song selections celebrate his past successes and set the tone for an artist who is coming into his own.

Katy Mixon After leaving her hometown of Pensacola, Florida, she attended Carnegie Mellon University's prestigious School Of Drama in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, before moving to Los Angeles in 2003. Since her move she has appeared in the films "All About Steve," "Finding Amanda," "Blind Dating," "The Quiet," "Four Christmases" opposite Reese Witherspoon, "Zombie Prom," and "State of Play" opposite Russell Crowe. Currently, she stars in HBO's "East Bound and Down."

ABOUT THE "UPRIGHT CABARET" SERIES

This brand new series performs the first Sunday night of each of La Mirada Theatre's mainstage productions as UPRIGHT CABARET, the pre-eminent Los Angeles hot spot for the next generation of world-class entertainers, brings its unique brand of cabaret entertainment to La Mirada! With celebrities in attendance, Upright Cabaret has become a hip and contemporary social swirl of young Broadway and Hollywood, performing with a level of excellence, authenticity and intimacy that brings the crowds back time after time. Upright Cabaret boasts one of the most extensive and diverse rosters of talent in the country.
