L'Arpeggiata To Make Walt Disney Concert Hall Debut 1/19
L'ARPEGGIATA MAKES Walt Disney CONCERT HALL DEBUT
January 19, 2011 at 8:00 PMThis concert is part of the LA Phil's Baroque Variations series.Founded in 2000, L'Arpeggiata is an outstanding ensemble directed by Baroque lutenist/harpist Christina Pluhar. Its members are some of today's best soloists and, in addition, they work in collaboration with exceptional singers from the Baroque and the traditional music worlds. Their aim is to revive an almost unknown repertoire and to focus especially on works from the beginning of the 17th century.
The bases of L'Arpeggiata are instrumental improvisations, a different approach to singing centered on the development of vocal interpretation influenced by traditional music, and the creation and staging of attractive shows.Since its foundation L'Arpeggiata has had an incredible response from the audience as well as from the critics. They have received outstanding reviews for their albums and concerts. "There's an immediacy and freshness here that grabs you right from the first few bars. If you haven't met [them], then it's time you did... deliciously entertaining." - BBC Music.
