Beginning Saturday, May 29, L.A. Theatre Works Radio Theatre Series will air Ruby McCollum by Ron Milner, Steve Albrezzi and William Bradford Huie, starring O'Neil Compton, Ronny Cox, Loretta Devine, Ella Joyce, Shirley Knight, Jenifer Lewis, James Morrison, Charlie Robinson, Jean Smart and Paul Winfield. A trail of lies, secrets and racial prejudice is uncovered when a pair of journalists, Zora Neale Hurston and William Bradford Huie, investigate the murder of a white doctor by an affluent African-American woman. Based on a true case in South Florida in 1952, this suspenseful drama has powerful implications to this day, posing questions of fairness and justice in a small Southern town. The broadcast includes an interview with C. Arthur Ellis, author of Zora Hurston and the Strange Case of Ruby McCollum.

L.A. Theatre Works' radio theater series can also be heard on the following stations (check local listings for broadcast times): 89.7 WGBH, Boston; 91.5 WBEZ, Chicago; 94.9 KUOW, Seattle; 90.1 WABE, Atlanta; 94.1 KPFA, Berkeley; 91.1 KRCB, North Bay (San Francisco); 89.1 KVPR, Fresno; 89.3 KPRX, Bakersfield; and many other stations nationwide.

Major funding for L.A. Theatre Works broadcast series is provided by the S. Mark Taper Foundation. Founded in 1989, the S. Mark Taper Foundation is a private family foundation dedicated to enhancing the quality of people's lives by supporting non-profit organizations and their work in the community
