Kritzerland Presents THE SONGS THAT GOT AWAY at Sterling's Upstairs at The Federal Tonight, 9/8

By:

Kritzerland at Sterling’s Upstairs at The Federal presents "The Songs That Got Away" as part of Kritzerland’s Two-Year Anniversary Celebration tonight, September 8, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. The concert features special guests Jason Graae, Rita McKenzie, Lindsay Ridgeway, Joan Ryan and Lea Thompson.

Completing the lineup are Juliana Hansen, Dennis Kyle, Lisa Livesay, Jane Noseworthy, Kevin Symons, Jenna Rosen, Sami Staitman and Sarah Staitman, with music director Tom Griep.

Kritzerland's September show, its 25th, marks its two-year anniversary, and what a ride it’s been so far. In Kritzerland's two years, it has presented shows based on albums produced by Bruce Kimmel, and for this show it has chosen songs from Kimmel's large body of work that Kritzerland hasn’t been able to present for one reason or another, but songs the group truly loves.

You’ll hear songs by Sondheim, by Styne, by Comden and Green, Rodgers and Hart, Strouse and Adams, Marvin Hamlisch and Howard Ashman, and you’ll hear songs from shows like Li’l Abner; I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change; Music Is, and many others. In other words, Kritzerland's usual mix of the known and unknown.

Kritzerland has gathered together a larger cast than usual to make the celebration truly something special, and that includes a reunion of the three stars of the LA production of Ruthless: Rita McKenzie, Lindsay Ridgeway and Joan Ryan. Also appearing as a guest is a Kritzerland favorite, Jason Graae, and the wonderful Lea Thompson. It’s an evening you won’t want to miss.

As our gift to Kritzerland's loyal followers (and yes, newbies), for this one-time only anniversary show, which takes place not on the usual first Sunday of the month, but on Saturday, September 8, Kritzerland is waiving the $15 cover charge. There is a $10 food minimum.

Kritzerland's last few shows have been jam-packed, and for this show the group recommends making your reservations early, as they're expecting a full house. Call 818 754-8700 to make a reservation; your phone reservation will be confirmed. Dinner reservations are from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
