The creators of Jewtopia, which started in Los Angeles and later transfered Off-Broadway for a three-year run, return to the city where it all began with their latest offering of all things Jewish, World of Jewtopia.
Bryan Fogel and Sam Wolfson, who also stared in Jewtopia, will set up shop at the Brentwood Theatre for a series of six shows, beginning June 21, filled with scenes from their hit play, projected multimedia visuals, staged reenactments from their best-selling book and an audience Q&A.The Off-Broadway sensation opened in New York on October 21, 2004 (previews began September 28, 2004) following a 16-month sold-out run at West Hollywood's Coast Playhouse where it still holds the record as Los Angeles' longest-running comedy. At the conclusion of its Off-Broadway run, Jewtopia played 1,079 performances, making it the longest running comedy in Off-Broadway history. In addition to New York and L.A., productions have played in Chicago and South Florida totaling over 500,000 audience members. Productions are slated to open in Tampa, Rochester, Philadelphia and Toronto in late fall 2007.Along with the recent publication of "Jewtopia, The Chosen Book for the Chosen People," Fogel and Wolfson are currently working on their film inspired by Jewtopia, titled "O'Connell and Lipschitz Lose their Religion."Photo of Bryan Fogel and Sam Wolfson by Carol Rosegg.
