JACCC Presents Kotohajime: Hatsu-Egao (First Smile) 1/3/2010

Kotohajime: Hatsu-Egao (First Smile) Sunday, 01.03.10 1pm

Welcome in 2010, the Year of the Tiger with the mesmerizing performance titled Hatsu-Egao (First Smile) featuring Nihon Buyo by Fujima Kansuma Kai, modern dance by the Trudl Zipper Dance Institute of the Colburn School, Korean dance by the Eung Hwa Kim Korean Dance Company, and live music by Minegishi Issui. The ritual shooting of the arrow-a purification ceremony-will be performed by IKKYU of the Los Angeles Kyudo Archery Group. Hatsu-Egao (First Smile) helps audience members greet the New Year with energy, hope and a collective smile. 

Immediately following the performance, please join us for Kagamibiraki and a New Year sake toast on the JACCC Plaza. The 12th Annual Shikishi Exhibition takes place inside the Geroge J. Doizaki Gallery with a reception in the Garden Room.
