Huntington Beach APA Wins 10 National Youth Arts Awards; Ceremony Set for 6/17

The Academy for the Performing Arts leads the way with the most wins for the Seventh Annual National Youth Arts Awards for the 2011-2012 season in its area. APA earned 10 awards and 12 additional nominations. This is for the California Region which includes Orange County, Los Angeles and the Inland Empire.

There will be an awards ceremony held at the Loats Theatre on the campus of Newport Harbor High School in Newport Beach at 7:30 p.m on Sunday, June 17.

AWARDS

- Outstanding Production: The Drowsy Chaperone
- Outstanding Production: Our Town
- Artist of the Year: Garrett Brown (Damn Yankees, The Drowsy Chaperone, Our Town)
- Artist of the Year: Zack Carlson (Leading Ladies, Damn Yankees, Our Town)
- Lead Actress in a Musical: Sarah Marion as The Drowsy Chaperone
- Lead Actress in a Musical: Elizabeth Romero as Lola in Damn Yankees and Janet Van De Graaff in The Drowsy Chaperone
- Supporting Actor in a Musical: Trevin Stephenson as Aldolpho in The Drowsy Chaperone
- Ensemble: The Drowsy Chaperone
- Set Design: Robyn Beisswanger for Damn Yankees

NOMINATIONS

- Outstanding Production: Damn Yankees
- Lead Actor in a Play: Bryce Miller as Leo in Leading Ladies
- Lead Actress in a Play: Marilee Jooste as Emily Webb in Our Town
- Supporting Actor in a Musical: Alex Jean as Joe Boyd in Damn Yankees
- Supporting Actress in a Musical: Kristin Daniels as Gloria Thorpe in Damn Yankees
