GODSPELL and DANCING AT LUGHNASA to Play in Rep at Mysterium Theater, Now thru 3/24

Mysterium presents Godspell and Dancing at Lughnasa in repertory this March.

Godspell, one of the biggest hit musicals of all time, is based on the Gospel of Matthew and written by Stephen Schwartz ("Wicked") and John-Michael Tebelak. "Godspell" features a rock score that includes popular songs like "Light of the World," "Day by Day" and "Turn Back, O Man" to tell a timeless tale of friendship, loyalty and love. The musical places the parables of the gospel in a modern setting, illustrating that the messages are as relevant and powerful today as they were when they were originally told. This multi-cultural cast brings a fresh new look to this touching storytelling musical extravaganza.

The dance is drawn from non- traditional techniques from Burning Man ritual along with contemporary movement from choreographer Sonya Randall. Brian Sherick musical directs and creates the tracks for the show having bringing loving sounds to Nunsense, Into the Woods and others. This is director Rovin Jay's second time at the helm at Mysterium Theater, having guided last year's beautiful production of Once on this Island.

Produceed by Marla Ladd of Orange, the production is directed by Rovin Jay of Temple City and choreographed by Sonya Randall of Los Angeles, with musical director Brian Sherick of Orange. The cast features Torran Kitts as Jesus, Brian Lofing-John/Judas, Mirna Carbajal-Sonia, Alexandra Camastro-Peggy, Sharon Rae Massey-Robin, Hayley Jackson-Gilmer, Luis Ceja-Jeffery, Ishmon Brown-Lamaar, Scott Rubinstien -Herb and Momoko Sugai-Peggy.

DANCING AT LUGHNASA

Produced by Marla Ladd of Orange, Dancing at Lughnasa by Brian Friel is directed by Jessica Kuhn of Garden Grove and choreographed by Candice Shirk of Orange, with stage manager Mariann Papadopoulos. The cast features: Michael: Duane Thomas, Kate: Jill Cary Martin, Maggie: Rose London, Agnes: Kathryn Senior, Rose: Kaszandra A. Liput, Christina: Brandice Brenning, Gerry: Joshua Nicks, and Father Jack: Cliff Senior.

Mysterium presents Dancing at Lughnasa which performs on Thursday Evenings and Saturday and Sunday matinees. Dancing at Lughnasa is a 1990 play by dramatist Brian Friel set in Ireland in August 1936 in the fictional town of Ballybag. It is a memory play told from the point of view of the adult Michael Evans, the narrator. He recounts the summer in his aunts' cottage when he was seven years old.
