East West Players to Present ONE NIGHT ONLY: THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT this August

By:

East West Players (EWP), the nation's largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work and the longest-running professional theatre of color in the country, announces its signature "One Night Only" event fundraiser, which this year will introduce new Artistic Director Snehal Desai. He is only the fourth artistic director in East West Players' illustrious half-century history following Oscar nominated actor and EWP co-founder Mako, Independent Spirit Award nominated actress Nobu McCarthy, and Ovation Award winning director Tim Dang. Proceeds of One Night Only benefit the artistic and educational programs of East West Players.

"This year's 'One Night Only' marks the beginning of our 51st anniversary season and the next chapter for East West Players," says Desai, "For my first event as Artistic Director, I wanted to celebrate this momentous occasion with a multi-generational line-up of performers both familiar to East West Players audiences, as well as, the next generation of Asian American talent. 'The Future is Bright' here at East West Players and I can't wait to share it with you."

Confirmed performers include The Mama Bares, an all-female group of four Miss Saigon alumni - Joan Almedilla, Ai Goeku Cheung, Deedee Magno Hall, and Jennifer Paz; and internationally-acclaimed Japanese drumming group TAIKOPROJECT. More performers to be announced. Marc Macalintal is musical director and Teresa Huang is producer.

"One Night Only: The Future is Bright" will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the East West Players David Henry Hwang Theater at the Union Center for the Arts, located at 120 Judge John Aiso St., Los Angeles, CA 90012. Registration opens at 5:30 PM, al fresco dinner seating is at 6:00 PM. The evening continues with the performance at 7:30 PM, and concludes with a raffle drawing and dessert reception. "One Night Only: The Future is Bright" is a benefit performance. Various levels of sponsorships are available ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 with a plated dinner. Individual tickets for buffet dinner and show are available for $250 VIP, $150 reserved seating in the rear orchestra and $100 reserved seating in the balcony.
