East West Players Presents WASHER/DRYER in 2015

By:

East West Players (EWP), the nation's longest-running professional theatre of color in the country and the largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work, world premieres "Washer/Dryer" by Nandita Shenoy and directed by Peter J. Kuo. Currently celebrating its Golden Anniversary, East West Players is proud to support the next generation of artists with a rising playwright's first production.

Why is Sonya so hesitant to introduce her new husband Michael to the people in her building? Why does the doorman keep calling her about a package in the lobby? Tempers and misunderstanding flare and mayhem ensues as the arrival of Michael's mother, some nosey neighbors, and Sonya's best friend Sam force Michael and Sonya to re-evaluate their relationship and decide whether all is fair in love and real estate.

The cast features Ewan Chung, Karen Huie (Joy Luck Club, A Little Night Music, Steel Magnolias; EWP), Rachna Khatau (A Nice Indian Boy/EWP), Nancy Stone (American Pie 2), Corey Wright (South Street/Pasadena Playhouse).

"We are proud to be producing this quirky and hilarious new work by a feisty and refreshing new voice," says Tim Dang, Producing Artistic Director. "With this diverse cast of characters spilling secrets all over a tiny apartment, what better place to air their dirty laundry, in the melting pot of New York City."

The design team includes: Set design by Arturo Betanzos, costume design Sara Ryung Clement, lighting design by Rebecca Bonebrake, composition and sound design by Howard Ho, props by Sasha Monge. Stage Manager is Michelle Gutierrez-Martina.

All performances will be staged at the David Henry Hwang Theater at the Union Center of the Arts at 120 Judge John Aiso Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012. Previews are Thursday, February 12 through Saturday February 14 at 8pm and Sunday February 15 at 2pm. All preview seats are $23.
