Crown City Theatre Company Presents THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST Image

Crown City Theatre Company in North Hollywood has announced its production of the Oscar Wilde classic The Importance of Being Earnest, set to open on Friday, February 1, at 8pm. Under the direction of Michael J. Marchak, the engagement will run through March 31.

The cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Ariel Barber, Megan Cochrane, Michael J. Marchak, Michael Mullen, Hans Obma, William Potter, Bobby Reed, Riegan Sage, Bobby Slaski, Neil Unger, and Mouchette van Helsdingen.

Oscar Wilde's wildly entertaining comedy sparkles with dazzling wordplay and hilariously unlikely situations. This 'trivial comedy for serious people' features two carefree bachelors, Jack and Algernon, each with a carefully hidden double life. But when Algernon discovers that Jack has been posing as a man named Ernest to escape to the city, he promptly travels to Jack's country estate to pose as the fictional figure himself. Nonsensical scenarios ensue with whimsical ing nues, jealous fianc es, indomitable dowagers, and the most famous handbag in theatre history.

Lighting design is by Zad Potter and costume design is by three-time Ovation Award-winner Michael Mullen, who also serves as producer. The stage manager is Zad Potter.

The Importance of Being Earnest is set to open on Friday, February 1, at 8pm. The regular running schedule will be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm through March 31. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased online at www.crowncitytheatre.com or by phone at (818) 605-5685. Crown City Theatre Company is located at 11031 Camarillo Street in North Hollywood, 91602.
