Coeurage Theatre Presents THE TROUBLE WITH WORDS, Beginning Tonight

By:

Coeurage Theatre Company (Jeremy Lelliott, Artistic Director) has announced a limited return engagement of The Trouble With Words. The 2011 Ovation Award-winner for Original Music and Lyrics (Gregory Nabours), will once again be directed by Patrick Pearson and will run at The Lost Studio on S. La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles. There will be two preview performances tonight, February 28, and Friday, March 1 at 8pm, and opening is set for Saturday, March 2 at 8pm. The Trouble With Words will play through March 31 only.

The Trouble With Words is a song cycle that explores the relationship people have with words, as well as with each other, as they struggle to connect. In examining how human beings are brought together and pulled apart by words, the songs range from devastating to laugh-out-loud funny. Prior to winning its Ovation Award in 2011, The Trouble With Words had been named Best Musical at the Hollywood Fringe Festival.

Of the 2011 production, StageAndCinema.com said, "Mr. Nabours ... writes lyrics that are poetic, economical, funny and smart. Patrick Pearson's direction is focused and fluid ... allowing the songs to rightfully be the star." Said Pauline Adamek on ArtsBeatLA.com, "A vibrant musical experience. Stunning ... captivating ... The Trouble With Words has humor and charisma to burn."

Gregory Nabours works as a composer, musical director, and pianist in Los Angeles. His wide breadth of experience includes classical, jazz, pop/rock, and musical theatre. The Trouble With Words won the 2011 Ovation Award for Original Music and Lyrics, and Nabours is currently a 2012 Los Angles Drama Critics Circle Award nominee for Best Musical Direction for The Color Purple at Celebration Theatre. Director Patrick Pearson received a 2012 Ovation Award nomination for his work on Rooms: A Rock Romance at Chance Theater in Anaheim, CA. Other directing credits include A New Brain, Altar Boyz and Songs From An Unmade Bed at Celebration Theatre, Equus, Reefer Madness, The Merry Wives of Windsor, and Seussical, among others.

The cast of The Trouble With Words will feature (in alphabetical order) Julianne Donelle, Aimee Karlin, Jamie Mills, Chris Roque, Ryan Wagner, and Robert Wallace. The set design is by JR Bruce, lighting design is by Susan Hallman, costume design is by Bradley Lock, and sound design is by Joe Calarco. The choreography is by Janet Roston, and Nabours serves as musical director. Stage manager is Abe Luke Rodriguez.

There will be two preview performances tonight, February 28 and Friday, March 1 at 8pm, and opening is set for Saturday, March 2 at 8pm. The running schedule is Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 7pm, through March 31 only. All seats are available on a Pay What You Want basis, and may be reserved online at https://coeurage.secure.force.com/ticket, or by calling (323) 944-2165.
