Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities Presents WAIT UNTIL DARK, Previews 11/3-5

Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities and Executive Producer James A. Blackman, III proudly present the Broadway mystery thriller WAIT UNTIL DARK by Frederick Knott opening with previews November 3, 4, 5 with the Gala Press Opening night on Friday, November 6 at the Hermosa Beach Playhouse. This is the 2nd show in the 2009/2010 Season for The Playhouse.

The production will be directed by CLO's Artistic Director Stephanie A. Coltrin, and stars Kimberly Patterson as Susy Hendrix, Leland Burnett as Mike Talman, Jeremy Ordaz as Sgt. Carlino, Michael Mullen as Harry Roat, Jr. Kailey Nicole Swanson as Gloria and Dane Brien as Sam Hendrix. The thriller's heroine is Susy Hendrix, a blind Greenwich housewife who becomes the target of three thugs searching for heroin hidden in a doll, which her husband transported from Canada as a favor to a woman who since has been murdered. The trio tries to convince Susy her spouse has been implicated in the crime and the only way to protect him is to surrender the doll. More murder and mayhem ensue when she refuses, with the stage lights turned off for the final scene when Suzy levels the playing field by plunging her apartment into total darkness.

WAIT UNTIL DARK opened on Broadway in February 1966 and ran for 374 performances in four different theatres closing in December 1966, starring Lee Remick, Robert Duvall and Mitchell Ryan. Ms. Remick received a Tony Award nomination. The 1998 Broadway Revival starred Quentin Tarantino and Marisa Tomei and lasted only 97 performances. The 1967 film starred Audrey Hepburn, Alan Arkin, Richard Crenna & Efrem Zimalist, Jr. Ms Hepburn was nominated for an Academy Award.

The remainder of the Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities at the Hermosa Beach Playhouse season opens 2010 with ON THE FRITZ starring Fritz Coleman January 19-31; SPIT LIKE A BIG GIRL, March 23 - April 4; and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM May 25-June 6.

All performances are held at the 400-seat HERMOSA BEACH PLAYHOUSE located on Pier Avenue at Pacific Coast Highway, Hermosa Beach, California.Valet parking is available in front of the theatre on Pier Ave for Friday, Saturday and Sunday performances for $5. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, you'll find plenty of free parking around the theatre.
