Chalk Repertory Theatre Creates AESTHESIA, a Benefit Gala and Celebration of the Senses
Chalk Repertory Theatre will create short immersive theatrical experiences inspired by the fives senses: Sound, Sight, Touch, Taste and Smell. Guests will be ushered in small groups to experience all five experiences, with plenty of time for hors d'oeuvres, libations and conversation. Partygoers are encouraged to come early to experience all five senses and help us to unlock the sixth sense!
Chalk Repertory Theatre, founded in 2008, is dedicated to producing classical and contemporary plays in unconventional spaces. Working with a diverse group of artists, Chalk Rep creates work that is designed to reach non-traditional audiences, stimulate community discussion and aim to transform the ideas that non-theatregoers have about what theatre can be - to create work that is intimate, relevant, and accessible to all.
The creators confirmed to date include longtime Chalk collaborator Eva Anderson (writer on FX's You're the Worst), Chalk Rep Company member Eric Reyes Loo (writer on Awesomeness TV's Guidance), Chalk Rep Founding member Ruth McKee (whose past Chalk Rep credits include In Case of Emergency, Hell Money and Full Disclosure), frequent Chalk collaborator David Myers, and Humanitas Award-winning comedy writer Andrea Wachner. The evening will also include a special feature created by artist/inventor Matthew Laibowitz, creator of the large-scale Urban Scavenger hunt "Midnight Madness."
