Center Theatre Group invites current undergraduate and graduate students to attend the free Going Pro Career Fair on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Los Angeles Theatre Center (514 S. Spring St. in Downtown L.A.) from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Co-presented by LA Stage Alliance, the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television and the USC School of Dramatic Arts, the event is free but reservations are recommended.

The Going Pro Career Fair is intended to help current students prepare for a professional theatre career. The fair will feature tables hosted by LA Stage Alliance, Actors Fund and Actors' Equity for students to learn more about their work and the resources they offer theatre artists. The event will also feature a technical theatre jobs networking mixer, 20-minute speed mentorship sessions and three free workshops.

Students who sign up in advance have the opportunity to secure a slot for the professional theatre open auditions, organized by LA Stage Alliance. The auditions allow students to be seen by producers and directors from Los Angeles theatre companies. These auditions are not for a specific production or to join a particular company's membership, but rather a way for actors to introduce themselves to the performing arts community.

The first 100 students who register and attend the event will receive a free headshot session with a professional photographer. Photos will be taken on-site and available digitally afterward.

The three workshops offered at the Going Pro Career Fair are "Casting & Type" (11 a.m.), "Financial Empowerment" (2 p.m.) and "Mapping Your Goals, Visions & Dreams" (3 p.m.). Led by Center Theatre Group casting staff, "Casting & Type" is an interactive workshop for actors, where they explore what roles to audition for and what kind of artist they want to be. The second workshop, "Financial Empowerment," is about learning how to manage money and best practices for independent artists. The final workshop, "Mapping Your Goals, Visions & Dreams" is a creative and interactive workshop to help students plan their next steps beyond college (all participants walk away with a personal career map).
