Cast Set for 24th STreet Theatre's WALKING THE TIGHTROPE at the Kirk Douglas, 5/2-3

By:

Casting has been set for the 24th STreet Theatre award-winning production of "Walking the Tightrope," which will be remounted for the Kirk Douglas Theatre presentation of four public performances only, May 2 and 3 at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. (Student performances will take place April 28 through May 1.)

Written by Mike Kenny and directed by Debbie Devine, "Walking the Tightrope" features a cast of Mark Bramhall, Tony Duran and Micaela Martinez as well as live music by Michael Redfield. This play is produced in association with Jack Black.

Kenny is one of England's leading writers for young audiences. His "Walking the Tightrope" is a sweet and funny story of a grandfather who, while trying to tell his five-year-old granddaughter that Grandma is gone, begins to build a beautiful new relationship with her.

David C. Nichols of the Los Angeles Times said of the 2013 award-winning presentation at 24th STreet Theatre, "In its pitch-perfect West Coast premiere, British playwright Mike Kenny's perceptive take on the eternal cycle is as artfully simple, theatrically poetic and deeply affecting a chamber piece as any in recent memory ... an indelible must-see for all ages."

Tickets for "Walking the Tightrope" are priced at $30, and can be purchased at www.CenterTheatreGroup.org or by calling (213) 628-2772. The Kirk Douglas Theatre is located at 9820 Washington Blvd. in Culver City, 90232.

The presentation of "Walking the Tightrope" is part of the DouglasPlus programming at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. DouglasPlus provides the flexibility to explore new work and push boundaries through fully and minimally staged events, workshops and readings and traditional and non-traditional performance configurations.
