Casa 0101 Theatre Previews 'Story Theatre' Programs in LA, 5/3 & 4

Casa 0101 will celebrate the West Coast Premiere of PIE (Projects In Education) as two "preview" performances of its "Story Theatre" Program for Teachers, Community Leaders, PTA/PTO reps and of course children and families. These preview performances will be free and reservations are necessary. They will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, May 3rd and 7:00PM on Saturday, May 4th at Little Casa 0101 Theater in Boyle Heights.

The program, a selection of approximately 8 fairy tales, fables and modern children's stories chosen from a repertory of approximately 20 stories, also includes a warm-up with the audience, stresses the importance of teamwork and community and reading as an essential tool to learning. There is also an audience participation story that has everyone up on their feet. In addition, the LA Company has written an original story called The King of the Jungle, which deals with the issue of bullying. Other stories for the preview will include: The Rich Man and The Shoemaker, The Little Engine That Could, The Giant Jam Sandwich and A Trip to the Forest.

The LA company: Kevin Lino, Carmelita Maldonado, Robin McClamb, Nikki Mckenzie, and Robert Paterno. Claudia Duran is Company Manager/Female Understudy and Isaac Cruz is the Male Understudy.

CASA 0101 was founded by Josefina Lopez, author of Real Women Have Curves, in 2000 to fulfill her vision of bringing art and live theater programs to Boyle Heights. From its humble beginnings in a former tiny bridal shop, CASA 0101 now has two theater facilities and has established itself as a leading arts venue for Los Angeles' East Side, currently offering year round theatrical productions and classes in dramatic writing and acting to youth and adults.

PIE Story Theatre has been the critically acclaimed educational arm of All Seasons Theatre Company, founded by Patrick Riviere, and has reached thousands of children and families in the New York City Tri-State area and Chicago, Illinois. Casa 0101 will add PIE to its educational and outreach program.
