Cabrillo Music Theatre to Host L.A. Fundraising Concert, 8/25

Why should the Cabrillo Broadway Alumni have all the fun? Los Angeles talent responds with a fundraiser concert to support Cabrillo Music Theatre, and to help secure Cabrillo's future as a nurturer of young talent. REACHING FOR THE STARS: A CABRILLO CABARET will take place on Monday, August 25th, 8:00PM at the Lyric Theatre, 520 N La Brea Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90036.

Stars from Cabrillo past and present will join forces for this evening of entertainment. Performers include: Kelli Provart (Cabrillo's SINGIN' IN THE RAIN and RING OF FIRE), Jim J. Bullock (the recent BYE BYE BIRDIE), Harley Jay ("Kenickie" in Cabrillo's GREASE), Shannon Warne ("Maria" in THE SOUND OF MUSIC), Jeffrey Scott Parsons (FOREVER PLAID, 42NDSTREET, and "Linus" in YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN), Zachary Ford ("Albert" in BYE BYE BIRDIE, and "Snoopy" in CHARLIE BROWN), and Natalie Storrs (LEGALLY BLONDE and "Lucy" in CHARLIE BROWN). Additional performers include Linda Kerns, Jennifer Foster, Farley Cadena, Alex Mendoza, Reba Buhr, Michael Byrne, Stephanie Hayslip, Jayme Lake and Sasha Weiss. Musical Direction will be by Cassie Nickols, currently serving the same duty on Cabrillo's MEMPHIS, and Natalie Storrs produces the event.

"We're honored that our local alumni are gathering to let their voices be heard for Cabrillo Music Theatre," says Artistic Director Lewis Wilkenfeld. "We take a lot of pride in all of these young people, and the role that Cabrillo has played in their lives and careers. To see them giving back like this.... Well, it helps motivate us to keep going with the fight for Cabrillo's future!"
Cabrillo Music Theatre has reached the intermediate goal of $200,000, and is working toward the ultimate goal of $250,000, with events like the Los Angeles Fundraiser concert and others planned to help reach that goal. Meanwhile, Cabrillo is moving ahead with plans for the 2014-2015 season, featuring MARY POPPINS, MEMPHIS, OKLAHOMA and COMPANY.

CABRILLO MUSIC THEATRE's 2014-2015 Season will open with MEMPHIS (November 14-23, 2014), then "travel" to England with MARY POPPINS (April 17-26, 2015), and make a stop in OKLAHOMA! (July 17-26, 2015). Next season also includes a "bonus" show in the Civic Arts Plaza's Scherr Forum Theatre, COMPANY (January 23-February 8, 2015). Single show and Season Tickets are available.
