CTG Hosts Free KICK-START YOUR ACTING CAREER 2.0 Workshop This Weekend

By:

CTG's Education and Community Partnerships Department is continuing its Theatre 101 series with a free student workshop tonight, April 25 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The workshop, Kick-Start Your Acting Career 2.0, will be held in the Music Center Annex at 601 West Temple St. in Downtown Los Angeles. It will discuss a broad range of topics tailored to the young actor interested in furthering his or her acting career and is available to all rising high school juniors, seniors and college freshmen.

Through a series of roundtable discussions and interactive activities, participants will learn how to create an acting resume, how to stay safe when going to auditions and how to join a local theatre company. The workshop will be led by professional actors, theatrical agents, actors' advocacy group representatives and several leaders of the L.A. theatre scene.

Students can sign up for the Kick-Start Your Acting Career 2.0 workshop by emailing StudentBody@CenterTheatreGroup.org with the following details: the student's full name, email address, school grade and phone number. No prior theatre experience is necessary.

A part of CTG's Student Body program, Theatre 101 is a series of free workshops taught by professionals who introduce students to theatre basics like acting, directing, playwriting, costuming, stage combat and comedy.

The Student Body program mailing list is open to 13-23 year olds who are interested in the arts. Student Body members hear about free workshops, specially priced ticket offers and chances to mingle with peers at events designed for, by and about the next generation. More information is available at CenterTheatreGroup.org/Student Body.

CTG's Education and Community Partnerships department, led by Leslie K. Johnson, is one of the most active theatre education programs in the country, reaching close to 20,000 students, teachers and community members throughout Southern California. The department is dedicated to the development of artists, educators, community members and young people's skills and creativity through the exploration of theatre, its literature, art and imagination.
