CSUF's FALL DANCE THEATRE Opens 11/30 in the Little Theatre on Campus "Fall Dance Theatre" is an adventure in story-telling coordinated by Gladys Kares, running November 30-December 10, 2017 in the Little Theatre. "Fall Dance Theatre" combines student, faculty and guest artist choreography in a mix of classical, jazz, ballet and modern dance.

The night begins with "And then...," a contemporary ballet piece choreographed by Muriel Joyce to J.S. Bach's "Prelude No. 1 in C major" and "Suite No. 3 Air." The piece reflects desire, tenderness and beautiful moments of finding and being with your soulmate. Alexander Caballero's "Shedding the Shields" explores the ideogram of the 3 wise monkeys and the western connotation of "turning a blind eye." "Puerto Vallarta" features choreography by Dylan Ochoa to "La Catedral" by Paraguayan guitarist and composer, Agustin Barrios Mangore. CSUF alum Mike Esperanza creates an eerie atmosphere with his contemporary modern choreography in "Scanners." With music by Loscil, "Scanners" inspires a humane longing for a sense of community and cooperation.

Courtney Ozovek's piece, "About Place," is inspired by the words of Indian poet Alok Mishra about the journey of life and eternity. "The Bystander Effect" by A'Kaila Willis tackles the romanticism of police brutality in today's society. Rachel Ward presents her choreography in the piece "Vast"-an ensemble piece featuring the music of Rival Consoles and Janis Searles Jones. Choreographed by Macarena Gandarillas, "Always Remember... Never to Forget" is a piece in three scenes that tells the story of a soldier sent to war.

Scenic design coordination is by Kaylee Gieser, lighting design coordination is by Debra Lockwood, costume design coordination is by Kathryn Wilson, and sound design is by Nichole Baffone and Paisha Bleich.

"Fall Dance Theatre" plays at 8pm on November 30, December 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 and at 2pm on December 3,10. General admission tickets are $14 ($12 with advance Titan Discount purchase for students, seniors or with a CSUF ID). All tickets are $14 at the door. Tickets are available by calling (657) 278-3371, 11am-5pm, Monday through Friday and online.

Soon to follow in the CSUF season is "Taking Steps" by Alan Ayckbourn. Helmed by CSUF Department of Theatre and Dance's head of directing Mark Ramont, the production runs February 23-March 18, 2018 in the Hallberg Theatre on campus. The comedy centers around the tale of Roland, a hard-drinking, irascible tycoon who is interested in buying an old Victorian house that was once a brothel. His wife, a frustrated dancer constantly threatening to leave him, joins an eccentric cast of characters in a fantastic, frenetic, race up and down the dark mansion's many steps in what The Evening News called "A farce of riotous delight."
