Artistic Director Kathy Brombacher has announced actor audition calls for Equity and non-Equity roles in all three shows of Moonlight Stage Productions' 2009 Summer Season of musicals. Actor Audition Appointments are scheduled for Monday, March 30 through Wednesday, April 1, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Avo Playhouse, 303 Main Street, Vista. Beginning Monday, March 23, actors may request an appointment by calling the Moonlight Production Office at (760) 726-1340 x1524.

Actors can audition for a season of three musicals: "42nd Street," running July 15 through August 1 (directed and choreographed by Jon Engstrom with musical direction by Elan McMahan); Kopit & Yeston's "Phantom," running August 12 through 29 (directed by Todd Nielsen with musical direction by Elan McMahan); and Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Cats," running September 9 through 26 (directed by Steven Glaudini with musical direction by Elan McMahan). Audition candidates may choose to audition for all shows or for selected productions.

Actors are asked to prepare a 50-second memorized vocal audition and to bring piano sheet music for this selection in the correct key. An experienced accompanist will be provided on each audition day. No tape recorders may be used, and "a capella" singing is not accepted. Five resumes and five headshots (non-returnable) are required for audition candidates, and completed audition forms, downloaded from www.moonlightstage.com, should be brought to the audition. It is anticipated that two Actors' Equity contracts per show will be offered, pending current negotiations. All Equity actors must show their current A.E.A. membership card.

For dancers who are only interested in auditioning for "Cats," a special open Dance Call is set for Saturday, April 4 at Brengle Terrace Recreation Center, 1200 Vale Terrace Drive, Vista. Check-in time for female dancers is 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. for male dancers. No appointments are required.

The minimum age to audition is 16 years. Information about pre-casting and directions to the auditions will be given at the time of appointment-setting. Interested persons are encouraged to view the City of Vista's Moonlight Stage Productions website at www.moonlightstage.com for audition forms, locations/directions, pay rate/employment information, pre-casting information, rehearsal and performance dates.

Each production involves approximately a five-week rehearsal period with three weeks of performance. All non-Equity performers will be hired as employees of the City of Vista during rehearsals and performances. Pay rates vary, depending on the role.

Moonlight's 2009 Summer Season is presented at the open-air venue, Moonlight Amphitheatre, featuring a newly constructed stage house. The facility is located in Brengle Terrace Park, Vista. Moonlight Stage Productions is a program of the City of Vista's Cultural Arts Division in the Recreation and Community Services Department.
