Antonia Carlotta Set for VOX LUMIERE - THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Talkbacks, 12/12-13
By: Tyler Peterson
Antonia Carlotta, great great-niece of Universal Studios founder Carl Laemmle and host of the web series Universally Me, a program dedicated to Universal's unique and exciting history, will participate in Q&As following performances of Vox Lumiere-The Phantom of the Opera at the Los Angeles Theatre Center on Dec. 12 and Dec. 13.
Vox Lumiere-The Phantom of the Opera features music and lyrics by Kevin Saunders Hayes set against Universal's 1925 silent film starring Lon Chaney. Singers, dancers and musicians give voice to the silent film projected behind them, playing off each other, the audience and the onscreen story in an explosive mash-up of music, dance and technology. Broadwayworld calls the performance "mind-blowing entertainment... truly different, incredibly exciting, and definitely the ticket for one of the coolest theatrical events to be found in LA." Annenberg's Neon Tommy found it "dramatic and powerful... hauntingly beautiful ... a mark of brilliance and artistic innovation." And Dread Central says, "incredibly inventive... a top-notch immersive, multimedia steampunk dunk into another world. Highly recommended." Vox Lumiere-The Phantom of the Opera runs Friday, Dec. 12 and Saturday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. A Q&A with Antonia Carlotta will begin immediately following each performance and is included in the ticket price. Tickets range from $60-$85. Student Rush: $20 (with valid ID, at the door, subject to availability). The Los Angeles Theatre Center is located at 514 S. Spring St., Los Angeles, CA 90013.
