A Noise Within to Host Summer with Shakespeare Camp, 6/23-7/12
A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, presents a three-week summer camp, June 23rd to July 12th, 2014, (Monday-Friday 10AM -4PM) for young artists, age 10-18, who want to have fun in the theatre at Summer With Shakespeare - a conservatory-style program of acting, improvisation, stage diction, text analysis, kinetic exercises, and stage combat led by classically-trained, professional actors, choreographers, and designers.
Participants gain an appreciation for Shakespeare's verse and get a unique exposure to a variety of his classic comedies, tragedies, and history plays. This three-week intensive camp challenges young artists to be scholars and performers of The Bard: enhancing their acting and public speaking skills, building their self-confidence on the stage, and gaining experience in theater craft.
Summer with Shakespeare includes three fun-filled weeks of acting, stage-combat, costuming, and more, where kids can:- Demystify Shakespeare with classes led by professional acting coaches.
- Meet fellow young artists through ensemble scene work.
- Master the language of the Bard through monologues.
- Get crafty with the art of mask making and more.
- Take charge of the stage in stage-combat workshops.
- Perform on ANW's main stage, just like the professionals.
Attendees are placed in age appropriate groups and perform for an audience on our main stage at a culminating presentation of scenes and monologues from Shakespeare's plays on Saturday, July 12th at noon.
Summer with Shakespeare takes place Monday, June 23rd - Saturday, July 12th 2014*, Monday - Friday from 10am to 4pm (* except no camp on Friday, July 4th, Independence Day). A Noise Within is located on the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Sierra Madre Villa Avenue at 3352 East Foothill Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91107. Three-week camp costs $850 (not including Summer with Shakespeare t-shirt or tickets to the Final Performance.)
