3 New Actors Join Olio Theatre Works' INTIMATELY WILDE

By:

Local theatre company Olio Theatre Works and director Gigi Fusco-Meese welcome three new actors to the cast of timely drama INTIMATELY WILDE to the Long Beach Playhouse's Studio Theatre January 11th – 27, 2013 as a part of the 2nd Annual "People's Theatrical Collaborative".

OTW Guest Artist, Alexander DesCombes has joined the cast in the role of "Robert Ross" – Wilde's friend and protector. In 2010, Alex played "Demetrius" in OTWs Rockin' Shakespeare in the Park: Midsummer Night's Dream. DesCombes recently appeared in The Rivals, Henry IV and A Few Good Men, for WILDE director Gigi Fusco Meese.

Also joining the cast is LA film and stage actor, Derek Long, in the role of Wilde's adversary "Sir Edward Carson" A veteran of the stage and screen, Long recently appeared in Lust N' Rust, The Merry Wives of Windsor and the film "Make The Yuletide Gay". This is Derek's first production with OTW but his second with the Long Beach Playhouse, where he was just cast in Catching the Butcher.

Finally, in the role of "Sir C.F. Gil", OTW welcomes Long Beach actor, Miguel Solario. While a graduate of economics at Ghetto University, Miguel is no stranger to the stage having performed in Charlotte's Web and Romeo & Juliet: Together & Alive at Last alongside WILDE company members: Ryan Hartman, Stephanie Thomas, Tim Thorn and Terra Taylor Knudson.

INTIMATELY WILDE explores contemporary issues concerning art, equality and sexual politics through the unique lens of England's Victorian age. In the late 19th century, Oscar Wilde, famed poet and playwright, was the central figure in a turbulent love affair with the young and rebellious aristocrat Lord Alfred "Bosie" Douglas, and as a result was thrown into the center of three highly publicized trials during the height of the Victorian era in London.

For the first time since the Los Angeles Premiere in 2009, audiences can explore the passion, wit, struggle and earnestness of one man's journey to demand freedom of expression in the face of an oppressively conservative society. INTIMATELY WILDE offers a hauntingly contemporary voice of experience from an age when the cost of love was very often one's entire life.
