Rumor has it that girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice; but rumors are rarely true. Hold on to your teacup, Kate Hamills inventive adaptation of SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, is one saucy ride. Step into scandalous 18th-century England, where the Dashwood sisters - impulsive Marianne and practical Elinor - attempt to maneuver their way through the fray of societal expectations and constraints, which somehow, today, we still havent managed to overcome. Breathing new life into SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, this highly physical and ensemble driven piece is clever and unapologetically theatrical; definitely not your mamas Austen.
