Stephanie J. Block Headlines Landmark on Main Street's Spotlight Gala (Take 2) Tonight

By:

Hurricane Sandy was truly a show-stopper for Landmark on Main's Spotlight Gala planned for November 3, 2012. But the company is taking it from the top and hopes you'll join the Spotlight Gala (Take 2) tonight, Friday, May 10, 2013 at 7 PM.

Broadway Leading Lady Stephanie J. Block will enchant with a concert performance followed by a fabulous celebration in the tented Spotlight Club.

Landmark is proud to honor Sheila & John Platt and Judith & Morton Sloan for their contributions to the organization and the community.

Stephanie J. Block has established herself as one of the most relevant and versatile voices in contemporary musical theatre. She is currently starring as Alice Nutting/Edwin Drood in The Roundabout Theatre's production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Other Broadway credits include playing Reno Sweeney in the 2011 Tony Award winning revival of Anything Goes, the role of Judy Bernly in 9 To 5: The Musical for which she earned a Drama Desk nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. She created the roles of Grace O'Malley in The Pirate Queen and Liza Minnelli in The Boy From Oz (opposite Hugh Jackman). Ms. Block is best known for her portrayal as Elphaba in the Broadway company of Wicked as well as originating the role in the First National Tour for which she won numerous awards including the prestigious Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical. The Landmark's Spotlight will Shine Like the Sun (9 To 5) as Broadway's Number One Leading Lady Stephanie J. Block stars in Spotlight Gala, Take 2!

After the performance Gala attendees are invited to enjoy gourmet foods and beverages (including a signature Hurricane cocktail) in the tented reception hall. H on the Harbor will prepare a feast of artisanal and local cuisines to celebrate Spring and the season's glorious weather (aka No Superstorms!).

The Gala Leadership is headed by Chairs Amy & Eugene Goldin and Rose & Leo Liebowitz. Honorary Chairs are Angela Susan Anton, Jane & Robert Harding, Lillian McCormick and Dot & Ed Slade. Our Gala Co-Chairs are Fern & Hersh Cohen, Angela & Scott Jaggar, Stuart Johnson and Deanne Rae Spiegel & Allen Dudley. Thanks also to our Vice-Chairs Entertainment One, Nancy & Jerome Federlein, Dan R. Goldstein, Susan Isaacs & Elkan Abramowitz, Kirk Kordeleski of Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Arlene & Joe Labenson, Sandy & Eric Krasnoff and Janice & Gary Zeltzer.

We need support now more than ever to make our Spotlight Gala (Take 2) a tremendous success. The Spotlight Gala is Landmark's most important fundraising event of the year. Tickets can be purchased by calling 516-767-2355 or emailing gala@landmarkonmainstreet.org. You can also purchase a journal advertisement to support the organization or to pay tribute to our honorees. A limited number of "concert-only" tickets will be sold as well (balcony-seating only).
