Gateway Playhouse Presents A Christmas Carol 12/30-1/2

By:

Gateway Playhouse is set to celebrate the holiday season with the timeless family favorite, A Christmas Carol, The Musical. An afternoon or evening in the beautifully restored Patchogue Theater will be a welcome pause from the rush of the holiday season for you and yours, as the spirit of the season is truly within this magical show. Originally presented by Radio City Entertainment at the Theater at Madison Square Garden, where its historic ten year run delighted audiences and critics alike, this A Christmas Carol is a delightful, enchanting and mesmerizing production. It has every bit of entertainment you could want for the holidays.

Set on the Eve of Christmas in Victorian London, 1843, A Christmas Carol tells the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, and the fateful night when ordinary slumber is interrupted by foreboding apparitions. The visiting spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future, afford Scrooge the opportunity to change his destiny and embrace the gift of compassion. Featuring music and lyrics by the Broadway team of Alan Menkin and Lynn Ahrens, the classic Dickens tale is enhanced with a joyous score, soaring melodies and festive dancing. The stage will erupt with fabulous period sets, rich costumes, special effects, a live orchestra and a cast comprised of Broadway veteran Steve Brady as Ebenezer Scrooge, some of the brightest actors from New York City and a handful of adorably talented kids. Audiences will be swept up in Scrooge's magical journey and will leave the theater with a heartwarming reminder of the true spirit of the holiday season.

This production is directed by Bob Durkin, with musical direction by Justin Fischer, the same team that headed up last summer's audience favorite, I Love A Piano.

A Christmas Carol opens at the Patchogue theater Friday, December 17th and runs thru Thursday, December 23rd. Tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at (631) 286-1133 or (888) 4-TIX-NOW or by visiting www.gatewayplayhouse.com.

And up next, Twist and Shout, the Beatles revue, playing at the Patchogue theater December 30th to January 2nd - with a special New Year's Eve performance at 10:30pm featuring hats and noisemakers, an open bar, hot and cold hors d'oeuvres and a champagne toast at midnight.
