FROM MY HOMETOWN Moves To Rockville Centre

By:

Off-Broadway R&B Musical FROM MY HOMETOWN recently completed its third encore production at the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre. Now slated for Rockville Centre, New York's Madison Theatre at Malloy College followed by the Meadow Brook Theatre, in Rochester Hills, Michigan, both in 2012, FROM MY HOMETOWN has also launched a RocketHub Crowd-Funding campaign to return to New York at the Triad Theatre (www.triadnyc.com).

FROM MY HOMETOWN was created over fifteen years ago when conceiver, Lee Summers, brought seven African American Broadway veterans together to create this three-man musical.

"Combined, we utilized our talents and what we'd individually learned as performers in shows such as Five Guys Named Moe, The Producers, Sophisticated Ladies and many others into a unified arsenal as creators. As a cast member in the original Dreamgirls, I'd experienced first hand, when the music tells the story and the dramaturgical framework is sound a musical will always deliver and can be licensed forever" says National Alliance for Musical Theatre Alumni writer, Lee Summers.

The creators have taken years to craft FROM MY HOMETOWN into more than a revue or another jukebox musical. Regional audiences and New York fans have convinced them FROM MY HOMETOWN deserves an open-ended revival run in New York City.

Everyone in the world loves Classic R&B songs like "Sittin' On The Dock of the Bay," "Hold On I'm Coming," "I Feel Good," "Working On A Coalmine," "Chain Gang" and many more. The creators have secured the rights to these songs and penned several original compositions which are all woven together in an engaging rags to riches story of three soul singers who meet in 1980 at the world famous Apollo Theatre.
