Eugene Onegin: A Bluegrass Musical is a new adaptation by Obie Award winner Sarah Gancher, directed by Tony Award winner Rachel Chavkin, featuring 15 actor-musicians performing an original bluegrass score in an in-the-round jam circle configuration where every seat is within 20 feet of the stage. Set in 1940s rural Arkansas, the production transplants Pushkin's classic tale of doomed lovers into the Ozarks. The cast includes Jane Bruce as Tanya, Cory Jeacoma as Eugene, Sydney Shepherd as Olga, and Adrian Blake Enscoe as Lensky, with ensemble members David Patrick Kelly, Mary Bacon, Matt Cusack, Allison Ann Kelly, Mike Lavender, Nikolai Margulis, and Belén Moyano. The production marks the first time the West Theatre has been staged in the round.
