Award-Winning Portuguese Pianist Nuno Da Silva Marques to Appear In Solo Recital, 3/16 Bloomingdale School of Music is pleased to continue its Faculty Focus Performance Series with a solo concert by piano faculty member Nuno da Silva Marques in a program devoted to the works of the great pianist/composers Frédéric Chopin, Enrique Granados and Sergei Rachmaninov. Their music for piano as well as their own virtuosity at the instrument influenced generations of composers and pianists. The concert will be held in the David Greer Recital Hall located at the school's home site at 323 West 95th Street, between Broadway and Riverside Drive in Manhattan. Seating is limited.

Nuno da Silva Marques, Piano Award-winning Portuguese pianist Nuno da Silva Marques is currently based in New York City where he is pursuing his doctoral degree at Rutgers University with Prof. Min Kwon. His previous studies include an Advanced Diploma in piano at NYU- Steinhardt School with Prof. José Ramón Méndez where he was awarded the prestigious Reinhold Scholarship which supported his studies and granted him the opportunity to make his New York concert debut. In 2015 Mr. Marques embarked on an eight concert tour in China and had his debut at Carnegie Hall, New York. He was also invited to take part in the World Piano Congress in Serbia, where he played a recital and gave a masterclass.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Marques has had the opportunity to work with pianists such as Irina Zaritzkaya, Vitaly Margoulis, Alexander Kobrin, Dominique Weber, or Lazar Berman; and chamber music with, Bernard Greenhouse (Beaux Arts Piano Trio), Takaks Quartet, Florestan Piano Trio, Gary Hoffman and Ilia Grubert. He was also awarded prizes in piano competitions in London and Portugal.

As a soloist Mr. Marques performed with the Artave Orchestra and the Orquestra do Norte (Portugal), and recorded for Antena2 Radio Portugal and Centro Atlântico. He is committed to chamber music and is a founding member of the Vianna da Motta Piano Trio with whom he recorded a CD for Centro Atlantico. The Vianna da Motta Piano Trio were prizewinners at the Prémio Jovens Músicos competition (Portugal) and were also invited to play for the President and the Prime Minister of Portugal. Mr. Marques took part in numerous chamber formations touring extensively throughout Europe. With a wide interest in contemporary music, he has performed with leading contemporary music ensembles, also having commissioned and premiered many works for solo piano and ensemble. Nuno Marques is the founder and artistic director of Porto Pianofest.
