A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM Comes to Royal Theatre

By: Mar. 15, 2019

"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" runs at the Royal Theatre April 4-14. Often called Broadway's greatest farce, this musical by Stephen Sondheim is a joyous, musical romp through Rome filled with desperate lovers, scheming neighbors, and secrets behind every toga. This production is directed by Bob Bidewell and sponsored by W.W. and Anne Jones Charitable Trust. Assistant director is Savanah Price; choreographer is Travis Clark.

Audiences may be familiar with the song, "Comedy Tonight" and "Everybody Ought to Have a Maid." The book is by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart with Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondhein-his first big hit! According to the director, "There is not one serious line in the whole musical. It's just fun." An experienced cast of actors bring the roles alive:

Curtain goes up at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday evenings and 2 p.m. for the Sunday matinees. Prices: General Admission - $15.00; Seniors, Military and College Students with ID -- $12.00; Students through High School -- $6.00.

Reservations are made by calling 501-315-LIVE (5483) or visiting www.theroyalplayers.ticketleap.com. The theater is located in historic Downtown Benton, 111 S. Market Street. This production is licensed by Music Theater International.
