Tropical Smoothie Café Spreads Sunshine in LV on National Flip Flop Day

If it's summer, it's National Flip Flop Day at Tropical Smoothie Café. All 20 Tropical Smoothie Café Las Vegas locations welcome the start of the 2011 summer season with its fifth annual National Flip Flop Day celebration. On June 17, the first 500 customers who visit each of the 20 Las Vegas locations wearing flip flop sandals will receive a free 24-oz. Jetty Punch^TM smoothie.

In addition to giving away more than 10,000 free smoothies to area customers, for the fourth year Tropical Smoothie Café is raising money for Camp Sunshine-a summer camp designed specifically for children with life-threatening illness and their families to provide a week of rest, relaxation, plus medical counseling and much-needed emotional support.

Now through June 26, 2011, Tropical Smoothie Café invites customers to contribute to the Camp Sunshine fundraising effort through the purchase of $1 paper flip-flops, which are posted throughout each store. Customers who donate $5 or more in-store will receive a Flip Flop Key Fob good for 10 percent off all purchases in 2011. Customers can also text "CAMP" to 20222 to donate $10 automatically, with charges appearing on their mobile phone bill. Proceeds from all sales of Sunrise Sunset smoothies will also be given to Camp Sunshine.

Camp Sunshine, a retreat in Casco, Maine for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families, is a nonprofit that hosts families year-round to alleviate the stress and strain for the sick child and their family members. To date, Tropical Smoothie Café's throughout the company have donated $770,000 to the cause and plan to raise more than $1,000,000 by National Flip Flop Day 2011. Nationwide, franchisees execute community fundraising events during the 6 weeks prior to National Flip Flop Day and donations are collected year-round.
