Las Vegas -- Legendary R&B group The Manhattans will bring their soulful sound to Sam's Town Live! on Saturday, April 2.
The Manhattans, named after the popular cocktail of whiskey, vermouth and bitters, formed in the early 1960s. Their first hit on the Billboard charts was the 1964 song, "I Wanna Be (Your Everything)." It was the group's first of eight singles, nearly all of which charted in the Top 30. The Manhattans rose to prominence in 1972 with the release of "One Life to Live," followed by the hit singles "There's No Me Without You," "Don't Take Your Love" and "Hurt." Superstardom came in 1976, when "Kiss and Say Goodbye" became the group's first #1 hit on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the R&B charts. Follow-up hits included "I Kinda Miss You," "It Feels So Good to Be Loved So Bad," "We Never Danced a Love Song" and "Am I Losing You." The recordings of "Shining Star," "Crazy" and the cover of Sam Cooke's "You Send Me" kept The Manhattans at the top of the charts into the early 1980s. The group continued to release new music over the next several decades, including 2001's "Nites Like This."Videos
