Photo Flash: Bank of America Announces $200,000 Grant for Spread the Word Nevada

Yesterday evening at The Smith Center, Bank of America announced the recipient of its $200,000 Neighborhood Builders grant, local youth literacy nonprofit Spread the Word Nevada. Spread the Word Nevada will utilize its $200,000 Neighborhood Builders grant to extend its school year reading program into the summer months and expand its literacy offerings into new schools. At the event, Bank of America also announced more than $2 million in financial support for more than 75 Southern Nevada community partners. Scroll down for photos!

The Neighborhood Builders program is the bank's highly competitive, signature philanthropic award that couples executive leadership training with a $200,000 unrestricted grant for high- performing nonprofits across the nation that have made a significant impact addressing needs related to community development, critical needs or workforce development and education.

Spread the Word Nevada is a Las Vegas-based children's literacy nonprofit serving at-risk and low-income communities. The organization will utilize its $200,000 grant to extend its school year reading program into the summer months and expand its offerings into new schools. The organization currently serves 29 schools across the valley by providing books, family literacy services and mentoring programs.
