Know anyone looking for a shorter hairstyle for the summer months? The perfect head shaving or hair cutting opportunity is available on Saturday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Town Square Las Vegas-Klip It For Kidz.

Klip It For Kidz is sponsored by Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN) and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (METRO), and is an event to raise money for and support programs of the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation (NCCF). Money raised at the event helps children and families in Southern Nevada affected by cancer or other life-threatening illnesses.

"We are so grateful and excited to once again stand side by side with CCCN and METRO along with the wonderful addition of our Clark County Fire Department for this year Klip It For Kidz event," said Jeff Gordon, president and CEO of the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. "Community support especially in these times means so much to our children who are fighting disease daily."

Participating in Klip It For Kidz could not be simpler. Those interested can download a pledge form at www.nvccf.org or on Facebook (search: Klip It For Kidz) and collect pledges from family, friends, co-workers, etc. now through March 13. They then bring their pledges along with their full head of hair to the southwest parking lot of Town Square Las Vegas, near Rave Motion Pictures. After turning over their pledges, they'll step up to the barber chair to shave off their winter hairdo or donate 10 inches or more to Locks of Love.

Raising money for shaved heads and cutting hair is not the only way to get involved. Teams of co-workers, family members, classmates and social groups can band together to get pledges in honor of their company, family or loved ones, school or organization. Individuals can set their own fund raising goals and simply come to enjoy the event-all while keeping their hair intact. Event sponsorships are also available.

"This is our second year creating a fun and upbeat public event to raise money for and awareness about NCCF," said James Kilber, executive director for Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada. "We invite everyone throughout the Valley to get involved however they can. If you do plan to raise money and shave your head, we'll be waiting for you with clippers in hand."

Klip It For Kidz also will feature live entertainment and appearances by Las Vegas celebrities, demonstrations by METRO's K-9 unit, food and a lot of fun for the entire family.

Money raised through the Klip It For Kidz event will directly support more than 25 programs offered by NCCF. The foundation works side by side with the medical community to provide social, emotional, educational, financial and psychological support services and programs to families of all children diagnosed with a life threatening or critical illness such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, sickle cell, hemophilia, renal disorders and other immunologic diseases.

Assistance is provided by supplying a child's required medication, providing transportation for doctor appointments, providing food and clothes to struggling families, offering free psychological counseling to those without insurance, and providing the opportunity for children to continue their education while they battle disease.

Further information about Klip It For Kidz is available and pledge forms can be downloaded at www.nvccf.org. Stay up-to-date and follow the event on Facebook (search: Klip It For Kids) and on Twitter @klipitforkidz. Information by phone is available by calling 702.735.8434.
